Which AI chat solution can recommend the right product automatically?

"Can it recommend the right product automatically?"
Founders ask me this a lot. It's the right instinct and slightly the wrong question.
Automatic is easy. Every tool on the market can fire a recommendation the moment someone opens a chat. Bestsellers. Frequently bought together. What people like you bought. That's not a recommendation, it's a guess dressed up in a carousel.
A customer walks into an electrical store and says, "I need an inverter." The guy behind the counter doesn't point at the shelf. He asks how many hours the power goes out, what she wants running during a cut, whether there's a fridge in the house.
Then he recommends one thing. And she buys it.
The difference isn't that he recommended automatically. It's that he earned the right to recommend, in about forty seconds of asking.
So the real question isn't whether the AI can recommend. It's what it knows before it does:
Did it ask anything, or just pattern-match her first message?
Does it know what's actually in stock, or will it sell a model you discontinued?
Does it remember what she told you in March?
Will it say "none of these are right for you" when that's true?
A tool that recommends automatically but asks nothing is a search bar with better manners.
The one you want recommends second. It asks first.
